Study Groups

Why are study groups organized?

The purpose of the study groups is to provide students with additional help and supportive instruction. At the same time, the study groups are intended to provide credits and experience for teacher students.

What are the study groups?

The study groups are a concept designed by Helga and AOKK (Vocational Teacher education) where AOKK teacher students can earn credits by providing “support teaching” to Haaga Helia students in the subjects they need.

The study groups were launched for the first time in the spring of 2020 as an online event where AOKK’s teacher students hold support teaching based on a pre-published survey. The pilot subjects were mathematics and Swedish.

It is thought that study groups will continue to be organized on a digital platform, for example in Zoom. Intensive weeks are planned for the study groups so that students can prepare for their exams with support. Before the intensive week, a survey is planned to be carried out, in which subject the students would need support teaching / additional help. Based on the results of these surveys, Helga strives to find a talent at AOKK who matches the results.

How can I participate in the study group?

You must register in advance via a questionnaire to the Study Group. The questionnaire will always be posted in the Facebook event of the study group and you will receive a participation link to the e-mail address you provided. The study groups are intended for all Haaga-Helia students. A maximum of 30 people can participate in the Zoom session.
