Théo Bloemen for the board of SAMOK for the year 2026

Theo Bloemen is a third-year Bachelor of Business Administration student at Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences, where he is specializing in communication. The opportunity to gain international experience was a key factor in his choice of study path.

Theo has extensive experience in student organizations. During his studies, he has been actively involved in student union activities. He has been the Vice Chair of the Board of Student Union of Haaga-Helia – Helga, for one and a half years, during which he gained valuable knowledge in advocacy, collaboration, and promoting student well-being. In this role, he has had the opportunity to support both Finnish and international students.

Currently, Theo serves as the Chair of UlySA (Student Alliance of Ulysseys), a European student network working to improve students’ conditions across Europe. In this role, Theo has gained valuable experience with the workings of the European Union and has learned how to influence decision-making at the European level.

“It’s important to me that all students have equal opportunities, regardless of who they are or where they come from. At SAMOK, I want to ensure that every student including international ones has the opportunity to focus on their studies without the constant worry of having to choose between work and education or stress about paying their bills,” says Theo.

Theo is applying to SAMOK because he wants to use his knowledge of international students and the European Union to strengthen the position of students in universities of applied sciences on a European level. His goal is to ensure that international students are treated fairly and that everyone has the opportunity to be students first, not workers who study on the side.
