Helga Grants Jasmin Tuominen a Mandate to Run for Chair of the Finnish Student Sports Federation
Tuominen is studying Sports Coaching and Management at Haaga-Helia’s Vierumäki campus and graduated with a Vocational Qualification in Sports Instruction in 2021. She has extensive experience in the sports and physical activity sector, including work with children’s and youth sports, sports clubs, lifestyle coaching, and group fitness instruction.
During her studies, Tuominen has been actively involved in student advocacy and leadership, serving as Vice Chair of the Helga Board, a tutor, head tutor, and member of the Representative Council. In addition, she has contributed to the development of new sports and wellbeing services within the higher education environment and has served on a youth board within community sports activities.
“Throughout my career, sport and physical activity have been powerful tools for promoting wellbeing, community, and inclusion. I want to bring this expertise to the student movement and contribute to advancing student wellbeing on a national level,” says Tuominen.
Tuominen’s platform is built around three key priorities: strengthening the role of student sport and physical activity in the 2027 parliamentary elections, improving the accessibility of physical activity services, and reinforcing the everyday foundations of student wellbeing and study ability in higher education institutions.
“Students’ wellbeing should not depend on chance, where they live, or their background. Every student should have the opportunity to be physically active, thrive, and find their place within a community.”
As a leader, Tuominen describes herself as approachable, attentive, and collaborative, while also being a determined and goal-oriented developer.
“For me, leadership is first and foremost a service role. I want to lead by building trust, bringing people together, and advancing issues with a long-term perspective. I believe that the best solutions are created through collaboration.”
The Board of the Finnish Student Sports Federation for 2027 will be elected at the Federation Meeting in autumn 2026.
