Hello, my name is Anni! I have been a TRALI peer tutor from fall 2024 to winter 2025. Training and other stuff started already in 2024 spring and even though this project has taken time I wouldn’t trade any of it.
The decision to apply to be a tutor was formed quite quickly. When I started in Haaga-Helia, the tutors left a very warm feeling for me. I felt the work was very special for a scared fresher coming back to the school world. I felt it instantly that without tutors the grouping and orientation would have been very hard and many would have been left alone. Thankfully that didn’t happen! For me it felt that tutoring already gave me a lot before being a tutor myself.
Of course it gave me the most when I was chosen to be a peer tutor. I’ve gotten to know so many wonderful people, who I wouldn’t have met elsewhere. Tutoring has taught me very useful interacting and leadership skills. Overall social situations are easier when you’ve gotten so much experience and know in these situations that people like you. Anyway, the most wonderful and precious thing about this experience has been the people I’ve gotten to know, tutors as well as freshers. From this has bloomed many valuable interactions and friendships.
