ELECTION ANNOUNCEMENT 2024 – THE STUDENT UNION OF HAAGA-HELIA – HELGA’S REPRESENTATIVE COUNCIL ELECTION
The Student Union of Haaga-Helia – Helga’s representative council election in 2024 will elect the council for the term 1.1.2025 – 31.12.2025. In total, 20 members and 20 vice members will be chosen in the election. The election is carried out by the decision of the Election Committee in the following days:
Nomination period: 2.9. – 4.10.2024 (begins at noon on the first day and ends at 20:00 on the final day)
Publishing the candidate lists: 11.10.2024 Election days: 28.10. – 6.11.2024 (voting starts at 10:00 on the first day and ends at 15:00 on the final day) Election night party: 6.11.2024 at 19:00-21:00 (voting results publishing)
The voting is done electronically during the election days. You can vote in the election if you 1) are studying in a degree programme in Haaga-Helia and 2) have paid the student union membership fee latest on 18.10.2024 at 12.00 o’clock. Voting is done online via the digital platform of the student union.
You can become a candidate in the election if you 1) are studying in a degree programme in Haaga-Helia and 2) have paid the student union membership fee by 4.10.2024 at 20:00. Becoming a candidate is done by filling out the digital candidate form. Training for approved candidates will be organized remotely on Monday 14.10.2024 from 17.00–18.00.
Candidates can form an electoral alliance that can host up to 20 candidates. An election agent (who does not have to be a candidate) must be named for the alliance. The alliance is formed by filling out an official form that must have the names of all the candidates. The digital form should be sent within the nomination period. The electoral alliance must have a name that will be published in the election announcements. The name or the emblem must not be offensive to anyone or be commercial or otherwise inappropriate. The Election Committee has the right to order the electoral alliance to rename itself or reject the emblem.
A candidate can only be part of one electoral alliance. If a candidate does not join an alliance, the candidate will be viewed as independent. The official candidate list will be published on the student union website and as posters on every campus.
The election register is visible in the student union’s office in Haaga-Helia’s Pasila campus room 1K001 starting 18.10.2024 until the end of the election. Any appeals regarding the list must be carried out within seven (7) days from the release. The appeals must be targeted to the Election Committee via email election@helga.fi.
The student union rules and the administrative rules are accessible online in Finnish on the student union’s website . Additionally, the administrative rules are accessible in English as well. Also, links to the official election documents are available on the website www.helga.fi.
The main language of the representative council is Finnish but participation in English is also possible.
All exceptions to this announcement are informed about by the Election Committee through Helga’s website www.helga.fi.
